A New Project from the Social Impact Lab Alberta

Since 2018, The Social Impact Lab has been on a mission to revolutionize social change in the province and improve the lives of Albertans. The latest Social Impact Lab Alberta project will be designed to equip community members, volunteers, and non-profit practitioners with the resources they need to build a brighter future. To that end, The Social Impact Lab Alberta is making its resources open access. When it launches, you’ll find guides to facilitation, community co-design and much more.

The Social Impact Lab Alberta employs a design-centric, cyclical process, which emphasizes rapid action and reflection, a sequence repeated until we craft solutions that address the needs of Albertans effectively. Our most recent cycle of iteration for this new platform has brought us to the prototype evaluation stage. During this phase, we conducted prototype tests and hosted a panel discussion, all of which unearthed valuable perspectives on potential user interactions with our product. Below are some highlights:

  1. People were excited: We saw a 93% likelihood of future use.
  2. People are interested in people: Our users valued local connections.
  3. Clearer language: Clear language and concise information were crucial.
  4. Trust: Trust could be built through transparency about the team and platform.
  5. Measurable Value: Tangible benefits were essential for engagement.
